I'm So Brave!

Hi everyone!! It's so great to see you! I can't wait until my mommy puts more pictures of me on my blog. Especially because I am looking different these days. Well, maybe I don't look different on the outside, but I think I am different on the inside. I'm getting braver!!

I used to run inside and hide upstairs whenever anyone came over to visit, and even when a neighbour cat came into my backyard. But lately, I go right up to the neighbour cat and I tell him to go home! I know he is just a naughty cat to come into my backyard without permission, and I know that I don't have to be afraid of him. It is so exciting to feel so proud of myself!

Do you have a special reason to feel proud of yourself?

Biggie G's Bad Day

Hi everyone! I was very grumpy today. I don't know why! I just woke up in a bad mood. The first thing grumpy thing I did was get mad at Alice the Cat. She was making noise when I wanted to sleep. Then I did something naughty. I hit Alice the Cat in the head. I got in trouble for doing that. I know sometimes I do naughty things and my mommy and daddy have to help me to behave better, but I don't like to get in trouble even if I was naughty. So I got even grumpier.

All this happened before I even had breakfast! I wasn't only grumpy, now I was hungry too. So I went to have my breakfast. But my mommy only put out the kibbles that I don't like very much. So I tried to eat Alice the Cat's breakfast. I just pushed her away from her bowl and took a bit. Guess what? I got in trouble for that too.

This was a very bad day. I've already gotten in trouble twice and I didn't even have my breakfast yet.

But then my daddy picked me up and gave me some cuddles and said that everybody has bad days sometimes. He said that it's ok to have a bad day. He said that whenever I want I can make it a better day.

So I made it a better day. I decided to eat those kibbles that aren't my favourite so that I would have good energy for the day, and I decided that I wanted more cuddles before I went outside to look for toads in the garden.

Do you have bad days sometimes?

I miss you!

Hi everyone! I'm so glad you came to see me. I haven't written in my blog for a long time. That's because I don't have pictures to show you and I like to put lots of pictures in my blog. But then I missed you! So, I decided to tell you about what I've been doing even if I don't have pictures.

One thing I've been doing is hunting toads. I'm very good at that! At first I was a bit afraid of them, because they hop around a lot. But if I am brave, I can catch them! I am very proud of catching toads. I bring them home to show my mommy and daddy. Alice the Cat likes to play with the toads too. My mommy and daddy don't like toads hopping in the house, but Alice the Cat and I love toads hopping in the house! They're so much fun to chase.

One time a toad hopped under the sofa. Alice the Cat is very skinny, and she could almost fit under the sofa to catch him. I am not very skinny, so I had to let Alice the Cat catch him. I was a little bit jealous. Sometimes I get jealous if Alice the Cat is better at something than me, or if she gets cuddles without me. Do you ever get jealous?

Football

Hi everyone!!! Guess what people in Holland call 'soccer'? Voetbal!! That means 'football'... that's what people in most of Europe call soccer. It makes sense in a way because you use your feet and kick a ball. In Canada and the U.S., they call another game 'football'. This is a picture of the difference! As you can see, some people think that football, American style, should be called Handegg. Hee hee that is silly!

Here in Holland everyone supports the Dutch team. Here are some pictures of people wearing orange shirts and decorating their houses with orange.

I love to live in Holland during football fever because I wear orange all the time! It's my fur!!

Toad in the Tuin

Hello everyone!! It is so nice to see you! Guess what? I had an adventure last night in the garden.

The word for 'garden' in Dutch is 'tuin'. You say it like the English word 'town.' When I was in the 'tuin' last night, I saw a TOAD! Do you know what a toad is? Here is a picture of a toad. They aren't very pretty, are they? Have you ever seen one in your garden?

Did you know that toads don't walk, they hop! Can you think of other animals that hop? Here are some pictures of animals that hop. Do you know what kind of animals they are?

I was very surprised when that toad hopped up to me. Would you be surprised if a toad hopped up to you?

What do you think I did when the toad hopped up to me?

Bar-B-Q

Hello everyone!! I missed you. It's nice that you came to see me!!

I had an adventure on the weekend. My grandma and auntie came over for a bar-b-q. Do you know what a bar-b-q is? It's when you cook food outside. Here are some different kinds of bar-b-qs.

Did you know that there are many ways to spell bar-b-q? Barbeque. BBQ. Bar-b-q. Can you think of any other words that are spelled more than one way?

Guess what!?

I was a little bit scared of my grandma and my auntie at first. I don't know why but I get scared of visitors sometimes. So I ran upstairs and I hid under the bed for a while. Then I started to feel less afraid. When I felt brave enough, I went back downstairs and said hello to my grandma and my auntie. Here is a picture of them. They are very pretty, even though they don't have orange hair like I do.
Here is a picture of my mommy and my auntie and my grandma all being a little bit silly. You can't see me because I am too short for this picture.Next time I promise to show you a picture of me. My daddy says that sometimes it is hard to take a picture of me because I move too fast or because I am hiding. I'll try to slow down!

Outside in the dark

Hello there, I'm glad you came to visit me. I had an adventure today. It was fun and scary at the same time. Kind of like a rollercoaster - have you been on a rollercoaster before? They are a lot of fun, but they are also scary. I don't want to go on a rollercoaster every day, but every now and then a rollercoaster is great! Well, today I went outside into the back yard. It's full of fun things out there. My mommy doesn't like to work in the garden, so there are a lot of tall plants that just grow wherever they like. That means lots of fun places for me to hide and lots of nice smells for me to sniff. Here are some pictures of me in the garden. In some of them I'm hiding. Tell me if you can find me!

When I went outside it was daytime, and I stayed outside until after it was dark. I stayed outside really late!! My daddy called for me to come in, but I pretended I didn't hear him because I wanted to keep playing!

At first I wasn't scared at all. Even though it wasn't daytime anymore, it was still light outside. That's called twilight. In some parts of the world, there is no twilight, but in other parts it can last for hours. How long is twilight where you live?

As the light kept on fading, the day turned slowly into night. You know what was silly? Even though the light kept fading, it seemed to me that it was suddenly dark! I wasn't paying very good attention.

When it was completely dark, I got a little bit scared. I'm glad my daddy left a window open so I could jump inside. I ran over to him and he was so glad to see me! He knew I was outside playing, so he wasn't worried. He was glad to see me because it was time for me to go to bed! But first I got some cuddles. I love to be me because I get cuddles every day from my mommy and my daddy.

Maybe I was a little bit naughty when I pretended I couldn't hear my daddy, but he knows that if he used his 'serious' voice I would have obeyed him right away. And sometimes it's good to get a little bit scared by yourself so that you know better next time.

I love to play in the garden, and I love getting cuddles! I had a great day today. What kind of day did you have?

Where does Biggie G live?

Hi there!! It's so nice to see you again!

My mommy moved to Holland (it's really called the Netherlands but most people don't know that. Look it up!) I had to ride in a plane for 9 hours when we moved! Have you ever been on a plane ride? I liked how exciting it was because there were a lot of new people and new things to see, but it was very tiring too. I cried a little bit from all the activity. Did you ever cry when you were too tired?

Guess what people in the Netherlands are called. If you call the country the Netherlands, you might guess they are called Netherlanders. But they aren't! If you call the country Holland, you might guess the people are called Hollanders. But they aren't! The people who live in my new country are Dutch people. Isn't that confusing?

Remembering my friends

Hi there! I'm glad you're came to visit me!!

When I was first adopted, I lived with three other cats that my mommy adopted too. She really loves us kitty-cats. I guess I'm pretty lucky! I lived with twins, named Hank and Alice. And another cat, named Molly. All of those cats were black-and-white. I'm the only orange cat. That's just one of the things that make me special!

Hank and Alice are the same age, because twins are two babies or kitty-cats born at the same time. But Hank already died of old age. He was 17 years old. That's old for a kitty-cat. It was sad when he died, but it was ok because I knew he was old and he didn't like to do as many fun things as he used to do. Everyone gets old, even kitty-cats. Molly died too, when she was 10 years old. That's not very old for a kitty-cat, but it isn't very young either. Molly was adopted at the same time I was, but before she was adopted nobody looked after her for a long time. I'm really glad my mommy adopted her so she could be happy and have a great life. Sometimes it's sad to think about people or pets that you love dying, but its ok to be sad, and it's ok that people and pets die one day. This is a picture of Hank and Molly together. I miss them sometimes.

I'm so glad you came to visit me. I hope you come back soon. You can tell me about your pets or people that you love too!

Meet Biggie G

My name isn't really Biggie G, that's just a nickname. My real name is Gwendolynne. I was adopted when I was one year old. I used to be called Abby, but when I was adopted I changed my name. New start, new name.

Even though I was only one year old, I'd already had a lot of adventures. Including having kittens!!! Can you imagine? I was still a little kitten myself. Well, maybe not so little, I am Biggie G after all. Hee hee! I also had worms. Yup, worms. They lived in my tummy, and came out in my poos. Isn't that gross!! I had to have medicine to get rid of them. Worms aren't supposed to be in people or kitty-cats. I didn't like the medicine very much, but I took it anyway.

Since I was adopted, I've had a great life. I can't wait to tell you more about my adventures. I'm really glad you came to visit me. I hope you come back soon and read more about me. I've got lots to tell you!

With love from Biggie G!
